'Loom' Barnsley Sculpture
The 'Loom' Sculpture celebrates the town's history of linen making and, in particular, the hand loom weavers who were based in the area. Tim Ward of CTS worked on the design with pupils from Doncaster Road Primary School, Barnsley College, residents from the Union Street TARA, Barnsley archives and local historians. Linen weaving was an important part of Barnsley?s industrial heritage. It was said that damask was the "Pride of Barnsley" and it was renowned for its fine texture and beautiful patterns.
